Dermal Fillers

What are dermal fillers?

dermalfillersDermal Fillers are a non-invasive treatment for smoother, more youthful skin. As we age, our skin loses its natural elasticity and the smooth complexion we took for granted as teenagers begins to fade. Unfortunately the way our skin ages is largely determined by our genetics, but the process is accelerated by smoking, poor diet and sun exposure.
By inserting tiny amounts of non-animal based hyaluronic acid into the skin or lips, Dermal Filler treatment gives you the opportunity to temporarily halt or even reverse the ageing process by restoring volume and elasticity where you need it most. After one short treatment, the skins surface is ‘plumped up’, the appearance of lines and wrinkles are diminished and there is a marked improvement in suppleness. Safe and long lasting, Dermal Fillers provide a youthful lift to your appearance and an invaluable boost to your confidence.

The consultation will follow the same procedure as for Anti-Wrinkle Treatment.

How much cost is involved?

Every person is different in relation to the amount of product needed; there are many variables to take in to consideration such as the depth of what is being filled and thus the amount of syringes needed to obtain the degree of correction or desired effect.

For this reason it is not feasible to give an estimation of cost without face to face consultation, sometimes a combination of fillers are necessary alongside Anti-Wrinkle Treatment. This will be discussed at your consultation.

How long does it last?

Repeat treatments are needed every six to nine months to maintain the desired effect.

Side Effects of Dermal Fillers

When it comes to Dermal Fillers there are two main side effects.

1 - Bruising. This occurs where the needle impacts and pierces the skin. The bruise will be soft and faint but very temporary, the bruises should last only a very few days. you will be given instructions to minimise bruising, Arnica cream may be applied or ice cubes. Individuals vary on severity of bruising.
2 - The second side effect is more significant but much less common - a slight allergic reaction. If you suffer allergies it is very important to let us know.

Is there anyone who can’t use Dermal Fillers?

The treatment should not be used in or near areas of skin where there is currently, or has previously been skin disease or inflammation. Dermal Fillers which contain Restylane and Teosyal are not advised for breastfeeding women. People with an impaired immune system or anyone undergoing chemotherapy or other therapies that suppress the function of the immune system are at greater risk of skin infection and should not be treated with Dermal Fillers.

You will have an opportunity to discuss your medical history in full with your physician during your pre-treatment consultation.

PLEASE NOTE: The cost will depend on the areas to be treated and how much product is need, this will be discussed with you at your appointment.
